Stein am Rhein, Switzerland

This is a tiny, well-preserved medieval town right across the German border. It has retained its ancient street plan including the city wall and the city gates. The medieval part of the town has been pedestrianized  and many of the buildings are beautifully painted with murals.

We came here right after taking all these pictures in Konstanz.

We wandered for a few hours and stopped at one of the restaurants for lunch in the old town. We continue to be amazed by these tiny European towns.
