K-Town Saturday Ramblings

Today is the first Saturday in a while I haven’t had to pre-schedule this blog post. The first Saturday I’ve slept in and literally had nothing to do. Except organize my to do list, of course. (Jamie, you understand)

The past few weeks have been whirlwind-eque. First the family was here for 10 days.

It was amazing and way better than I thought. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. I’m very guilt conscious, and so if everyone isn’t always entertained with a huge smile on their face, I blame myself; assuming they’re miserable. I wanted the trip to be perfect. But pleasing three different people with perhaps three different agendas wasn’t going to be easy. Or so I thought.

They were so laid back, made me feel so relaxed, that it actually felt like a vacation! They were great. We all 5 slept in my small 2 bedroom apartment. We all 5 drove around in my small compact car. And they did it without complaint. We learned a lot about one another, as this was the first time in a LONG time that we all spent more than a weekend together. Let alone completely out of their comfort zones travelling around Europe. It was such a great trip, and I’m having a bit of the vacation blues not waking up to them around.

So shout out to those Shocks, you guys are awesome.

Second is that I finally started my new job! This has been a LONG time in the making and it’s finally here. My first day was on Wednesday. I’m three days in and can already say that I am very much going to love it and this is where I’m suppose to be. I’ll be working in the Marketing Department at Stars and Stripes.

Stars and Stripes is an independent newspaper that serves information needs to military communities in Europe, Pacific and the Middle East. I specifically help plan and execute marketing initiatives in Europe and the Middle East. The marketing department is small, so there are a ton off different, cool projects I get to work on. This is seriously an opportunity I’ve been looking for for a while.
