Camping at Carter Lake

My parents reserved a camping spot right across from Carter Lake. They are huge cycle fans and the next morning the Pro Cycle Race was to bike through there.

After work on Friday, I drove up there to meet them and Frank. It was nearly sundown by the time I arrived, so we had a low key night with cocktails and taking pictures of the lake sunset. Wow. Colorado never ceases to amaze me with its natural beauty. I know, I know that sounds super cheesy, but IT'S TRUE. Just LOOK at those pictures.

Saturday morning we woke early and brought Frank down to the boat dock. This was before there was a lot of activity and no one was really around. We let him off his leash while we sat on the dock and he played in the water. It was the most adorable thing I've ever seen. He isn't exposed to water that often, despite being quite a water dog.

It was the happiest I've ever seen him. He was splashing and swimming and shaking and jumping and just having an effin puppy blast.

We then decided to get the boats out. My dad went kayaking and my mom and I went canoeing. And because I'm clearly obsessed with my dog, he came too!

Of course I was slightly worried he would freak the fuck out, jump out of the boat, of which I would also jump out to rescue him and then we would.... I mean, I don't know... float back to shore? My dad told me getting back INTO the boat is nearly impossible.

I'm happy to report that wasn't necessary. He did great! He loved it. There were a few times he slowly brought his paw up to the side of the boat, perhaps planning an escape, but never truly committed. There was only one moment that he growled and barked like a crazed puppy at buoy. Beyond that he was a perfect boating gentleman.

It was a great camping trip and I can't wait to take him to lakes, ponds and rivers more often! WATERRR PUPPPPY.

Frank loves bike races too!
