Stand Up Paddleboarding in Huntington Harbor

I’ve been obsessed with the idea of Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) for a few years now. I’ve just never had the chance to try it. So on our last day in California we found a groupon and headed to Huntington Harbor.

I was SO excited… it was finally happening! The two things I was worried about were either being really bad at it or just hating it- because it just was one of those too good to be true moments. You can’t LOVE the idea of something and then ACTUALLY love it… right?

Anyway… I did love it! I was wobbly at first, obviously, but it’s amazing how use to the feeling of the board you get. Plus, they were most defiantly beginner boards and extremely stable. We paddled around for about an hour and half before heading to the airport.

I didn’t fall in- which I wasn’t really worried about since I know how to swim, but just as we were rowing back in to return our boards, Dan (who I learned on this trip cannot swim) twisted around to check on me and… whoa whoa whoaaaa… splash.. in the harbor he went. BHAHAHAA. Good thing he could touch the bottom!

Since I didn’t want to risk my phone, I didn’t bring it with. I got a few shots right before we went in and then there are some others below borrowed from Google so you can get the full experience.

I CANNOT wait to try it again soon! What’s your fav spot to SUP?
